The Toddlers Program at Tamarack Day Care Centre is designed to support children during one of the most dynamic stages of early development. Toddlers are learning to explore independence, develop social skills, and understand their environment, and our program provides the guidance, safety, and structure they need to thrive.
At this age, children require a balance of comfort, supervision, and opportunities to explore. Our program combines nurturing care with play-based experiences that support toddlers’ comfort, curiosity, and emerging independence. Each day is thoughtfully organized to include play, rest, meals, and hands-on play experiences that encourage curiosity and exploration.

SCHOOL AGE CARE PROGRAM
At Tamarack Day Care Centre, our School Age Program offers a safe and welcoming space where children can learn, play, and unwind after school. We balance structured activities with free play — from arts and crafts and outdoor games to homework help and group projects.
Our caring staff encourages creativity, confidence, and strong friendships in a space that feels like home. At Tamarack, learning continues beyond the classroom through teamwork, exploration, and everyday moments of growth.
Safe and Nurturing Environment
Toddlers benefit from a predictable routine that gives them a sense of security. At Tamarack, we maintain consistent schedules for meals, naps, and activities. This predictability helps children feel safe and supported as they begin to build confidence and independence.
Our classrooms are designed to be welcoming, organized, and age-appropriate. Caregivers provide close supervision while allowing children the space to explore and discover through guided play and responsive interactions with caregivers.
Play is central to our Toddlers Program. Activities are designed to support early communication, movement, and exploration. Sensory exploration, music, art, and movement are incorporated into daily routines, giving children opportunities to experiment, make choices, and express themselves.

Toddlers begin to form early social connections and practice key emotional skills during this stage. Our caregivers guide interactions to support early social interactions such as sharing space, taking turns when ready, and expressing feelings. The Toddler Program follows Ontario’s play-based early years pedagogy and provides responsive care for children aged 18 months and older. Programming does not include academic instruction or developmental assessment.
